The Future of Money is a video project that was created in an attempt to answer questions about the evolving nature of wealth—questions like “What disruptive technologies are transforming our ability to exchange value?” and “What complimentary and digital currencies are emerging?” You can check out the insightful finished product, a short video documentary, here.
Chris Skinner is an executive producer of The Future of Money video, and is chairman of the Financial Services Club in London. The video below showcases his perspective of what’s hot now, and which spaces we should be watching over the next few years. (Hint: virtual currencies, new kinds of value exchanges, and a mobile economy.)

“As of right now, [mobile payments] are very much the in-vogue area to look at. Looking further out… I’m intrigued by the whole way in which we can engage with money no longer being a physical form, but being a pure, virtual exchange of value… and also the credit economy where potentially I could trade air miles with you in exchange for you providing me with a day’s worth of consulting, for example. I think that in 5-10 years, that’s exactly where the space will be—no longer managing payments, but managing information and informational exchanges of value.” —Chris Skinner
